WOMAN

I wrote this title and paused, thought and took in a deep breath. Simple, yet cumbersome topic, controversial, misunderstood, sweet ... so many oxymorons, yet very inspiring and inspirational.

Woman! Everyone proceeded from one, so we all are familiar with her. You can call this a tribute to woman, you can even say it's partial or deserved ... that is part of the topic! (laughs)

As everywhere as a woman seems to be, some people have been unable to unravel this dynamic blend of wonder in one gender.

As a child, I had my misgivings about being one, because I saw how misunderstood a woman can be, and how unappreciated her efforts are. I may be biased being a woman, but that was the way it appeared when I saw how many unnecessary restrictions the society places on her, and how the phrase, "a man's world" seemed to echo louder every time one of those restrictions were activated.

Times have changed, traditions have been modernized and modified, but that tag still hangs like an odor that has refused to fade. I used to be interested in being an activist, but mother talked it out of me ... (laughs), but really, whenever an injustice is being meted to a woman, the silent man/woman is a party to that injustice. (That is the activist in me rising ... lol!)

A beauty of creation is what a woman is, so many thoughts trying to gain ascendancy as I think about woman, a woman is a gift, a treasure, and should be treated as one.

Perception makes a whole world of difference. It determines worth. It is relative. The worth you place on something or someone determines their value to you. This goes a long way in determining how precious or irrelevant it is (they are) to you. Interestingly, your perception of a person or an item does not translate to the real value of that person or item, it only means that your value system is flawed. Discounting what is valuable, which you have been unable to discern, just means you get to enjoy little or nothing of that person or item.

Don't lose out on what is valuable just because you were unable to identify it. Some opportunities are a 'once in a lifetime'.

Live deliberately. Live well.

The Journey to Grey (contd)

Long time o (that's a part of our greeting in this part of the world).These posts are few and far between, something has to be done about them...

Part of making progress on the journey to grey, is taking action(s) in line with decision(s). It is following up on those plans that make the day count, and worthwhile. I believe in one step at a time, just move from where you were. Staying on the same spot after a long while will feel disappointing when you realise time has been consumed.
 You may not be at the place you want to be yet, just don't remain where you have been for years. You will be proud of yourself when you look back and see how far you have come. Don't waste an opportunity to make evident progress.
These opportunities are presented everyday. It is said that they show up in work clothes so they sometimes are not easily identifiable.
I have realised that when one is interested in something, one's area of interest keeps showing up and that should be because that is what is priority on one's mind.
 I want to encourage you, as I also encourage myself. It is said, that "the opportunity of a lifetime must be seized within the lifetime of the opportunity". Will there be challenges? Of course! Can you surmount them? Definitely! There is a God that rules in the affairs of men, receive His strength. Don't be swayed by the challenges, it is a part of life and a part of your story that makes victory sweet.
